3+ years building production web apps and AI solutions. Developed OCR systems at Banco BPI with Python and TensorFlow, now building full-stack applications at Bitcliq with Flask, Node.js, and React. Working towards my CS degree at ISCTE on the side.

Professional experience

Software Developer

Bitcliq · Caldas da Rainha — September 2023 to present

  • Built features and full applications from scratch across 7+ projects: Flask and Node.js APIs, React and C# frontends
  • Designed and documented 10+ REST APIs for internal platform integrations and third-party services
  • Developed standalone tools in Python and React, and worked on mobile projects with React Native
  • Debugged and fixed production issues across performance, security, and UX in a small team serving external clients
  • Wrote and optimized queries across MySQL, SQL Server, and InfluxDB

AI Development Intern

Banco BPI — CEIA · Lisbon — August 2022 to July 2023

  • Built OCR and AI tools to improve financial document processing using Python, Tesseract, OpenCV, and TensorFlow
  • Analyzed preprocessing approaches and tested different pipelines to find the best model accuracy with Scikit-learn and Pandas
  • Automated monthly reports on model performance and presented results to management

Selected project

energia-forecast — day-ahead energy forecasting in production

2026 · personal · github.com/diogogs/energia-forecast

  • End-to-end ML system forecasting Portuguese electricity demand and MIBEL day-ahead prices, live on free-tier infrastructure (GitHub Actions, Neon Postgres, Render, Streamlit Cloud)
  • Leakage-free rolling-origin backtesting (publication-time legality, as-of data access): demand MAPE 2.8% and price P50 MAE 13.2 EUR/MWh, both beating naive baselines; P10-P90 intervals calibrated with conformalized quantile regression
  • Daily autonomous operation: idempotent multi-source ingestion, write-once forecast records scored publicly against outcomes, monitoring, weekly backups
  • Built with AI-assisted development (Claude Code) under my architecture and review; design decisions recorded as ADRs
